Beaverton, Aloha, & Salem, Keizer Whiplash Injury and Treatment Center

Our Mission: Helping People Who Have Been Injured In an Auto Accident or Work Injury in the Beaverton/Aloha, and Salem/Keizer Communities
We have been helping and providing Chiropractic treatments to injured people in the Beaverton and Aloha community as well as the Keizer, & Salem community for many years. Over the years I have seen people say “I was just in a car crash the other day, but I don’t have any health insurance so I can’t see the doctor, or get chiropractic care even though I know that would be the best treatment for me. I have really bad neck, back pain and headaches. I’m taking 10 to 20 Tylenol pills per day. The pain is worsening and now the pills don’t even work. Do I have to learn to live with the pain”.
If you or a family member or friend have been injured in a car accident or have had a work injury make sure that you get the proper care right away. The State of Oregon is a “no-fault state”. What this means is that no matter who caused the car crash, you or your family member who were injured in a car accident are entitled to receive medical care under you PIP or personal injury protection by your car or auto insurance. In fact it is Oregon Law that mandates that you and all passengers in the car have up to $15,000 in coverage to cover the medical bills per person. That means each person in the car is entitled to receive $15,000 worth of medical benefits for injuries sustained in the car accident. Also, you have the right to choose the type of doctor you want to see, whether it’s a chiropractor, or a medical doctor for the injury that you have sustained as a result of the car crash. It’s most beneficial if you get proper care right away. Chiropractic treatment and many other forms of physical therapy, and physical medicine can make a really big difference in recovery times and avoiding long term chronic pain or conditions like degenerative joint diseases such as arthritis. Medical studies have shown that a large number of whiplash auto accident injured persons may still have pain years after their car accidents because they did not get the proper treatment. I see many people look back 5 to 7 years down the road and tell me that they have been suffering from neck and back pain relating it to the car crash they had 5 to 7 years ago because they thought it was a “minor fender bender”, and they really did not think they were hurt. However, the neck and back pain and the intermittent headaches became more and more intense until one morning they could not get out of bed. It was then they realize many months later that “ever since” that minor “fender bender”, they have had neck and back pain, with numbness and tingling and headaches which have become more and more persistent as weeks and months have passed by. The pain pills they were taking don’t even work now. They never sought treatment as they thought it was a minor fender bender and their pain would go away. However their pain did not go away, and now has become a permanent condition that they will have to live with. Had they gotten treatment immediately after the car accident, they could have avoided the many years of pain, and a chronic degnerative condition.

There are many research articles that indicate that significant injury is possible even at low speed car crashes such as 8 MPH, like a “fender bender”, which many people think is “no big deal”. But, the fact of the matter is that you can get significant injuries after a 6 to 8 mph crash. I have seen spinal herniated discs that required surgery in a relatively low speed collisions. It is because in these types of injuries there is a tearing, shearing, and compressive forces subjected to the spine. These spinal surgeries could have been prevented and avoided had the injured victim gotten the proper treatment. The muscles and ligaments that support the neck and back can get torn and the spinal discs can tear or protrude resulting in a herniated disc type of injury of the spine. Also, the very delicate nerves can become irritated, inflamed, or pinched causing numbness, tingling, burning or shooting pain in the arms, upper back and legs. If these conditions are left untreated the formation of scar tissue and abnormal spinal joint motion can result. This situation can lead to chronic spinal joint dysfunction leading to arthritis or other spinal conditions known as degenerative joint disease, and osteoarthritis.

Some of the symptoms after an auto accident or work injury are as follows:

  1. Neck and back pain
  2. Headaches
  3. Shooting pain down arms or legs
  4. Sciatica
  5. Pain in the shoulders & pain between the shoulder blades
  6. Rringing in the ears
  7. Nnumbness or tingling in the arms or hands
  8. Vision problems & disturbances
  9. Dizziness
  10. Difficulty in concentration
  11. Mmemory loss, problems focusing & irritability
  12. Knee pain
  13. TMJ pain & difficulty chewing
  14. Difficulty sleeping, nervousness.

Some of these symptoms may appear right away, and some may be delayed in onset. Make sure you seek professional help and call us right away Delay in treatment and hoping the pain will go away can lead to problems. Not only will you have problems with the auto insurance company, and possibly lead to denial that you were really hurt in the car accident, but you can also wind up in a chronic, & degenerative spinal condition. The PIP Auto insurance company may claim that your pain is due to some other “unknown” reason, and not realted to the car accident because you didn’t seek “prompt” care and treatment. That you have pain for some “unknown” reasons, and no matter what reason, that it couldn’t be related to the car accident because you did not get prompt care and treatment. I have seen “insurance medical doctors” blame patient pain to “posture”, or “unknown” reasons, or that patients are “lying” and “magnifying their pain”. It is because the patient delayed getting prompt help, and waited and hoped the pain would go away. Sometimes patients will wait 1 to 3 months before seeking care, hoping that the pain will go away. It is then after 2 to 3 months patients have a difficult time relating their injuries to the car accident. The PIP (Personal Injury Protection) car insurance company many times state that if you were hurt, “why didn’t you see the doctor right away”. Then the “PIP” insurance company has you, “injured victim” see one of the doctors they have “hired” to do “Independent Insurance Examinations”. These “Independent Insurance Examiners” who make hundreds of thousands of dollars from the insurance company and regularly get business from these insurance companies to say either: “there is nothing wrong with the patient”, “the condition is not from the car accident”, or “the patient is lying”. Or the patient has “pain magnification behaviour”. These doctors that make these statements get about 80 to 90% of business directly from the insurance company to do these “independent medical insurance examinations”. These doctors are chosen by the insurance company for “claim closure”, or “denial of treatment” & to deny reasonable & necessary care to patients due to injuries sustained in a car accidents.
This is the time to talk to an attorney so that you can get your “rights protected” if you were indeed hurt in the car accident, and did not have neck and back pain, headaches, sciatica and other symptoms mentioned above prior to the car crash.
If this does happen to you, in that you are being denied reasonable and necessary medical treatment for injuries sustained in a car accident, we can give you cards of 3 excellent & reputable attorneys who focus on auto accidents primarily. These attorneys do not charge for the initial consultation to see if they can help you. If you need an attorney, call our office and we can give you 3 cards of local & reputable attorneys.
