Auto Injury: Chiropractic + Physical Therapy = Recovery

Drs. Bhasin, Trabajour, and Davidson are frequently called upon to treat auto injuries in the Beaverton and Aloha areas. As chiropractors, they take a patient-centered perspective to develop an individualized treatment plan with chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy.

The recovery process from an auto injury depends on the severity of the injuries sustained. And according to Beaverton chiropractor Dr. Bhasin, there’s evidence proving that the combination of chiropractic with physical therapy is powerful in healing injuries such as whiplash that can linger for quite a long time.

Specifically, one study proved that 174 patients who received chiropractic treatment that includes physical therapy after an auto injury did better than those who don’t get treatment.

In another study from France, researchers compared quality of life and health status of whiplash patients (who suffered an auto injury) one year after the accident to those who were also suffered from an auto injury but had more injuries than whiplash.

Fifty-eight percent of the patients who had whiplash had still not recovered their health compared to 43 percent of those in the other group studied. Thirty-one percent of those who had whiplash had effects that interfered with their jobs, compared with only 23 percent in the other group.

It’s not too late to still do physical therapy or get chiropractic care for these patients because the body has an immense capacity to heal and recover. Scientists estimate that every part of the body is renewed within two years, with some parts of the body such as the nervous system and bones taking the longest time to heal and cells of the taste buds and in the intestine regenerating in about four days.

If you’ve suffered from an auto injury in Beaverton, OR, the sooner you can get treatment from your chiropractor, the better your prognosis.
