Beaverton, OR Chiropractic for Your Children

Dr. Bhasin has worked with many little ones in our practice in Beaverton, OR . As a mom or dad, there is no more terrible experience than seeing your child in pain and being unable to do anything about it. Maybe you're nervous about the side effects of the medicines or maybe even these traditional approaches to pain management haven't helped. Recent research suggests that more parents of children with chronic neurological conditions are turning to chiropractic and other complementary therapies to help their children live normal, pain-free lives.

In one study of pediatric patients at Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, Canada, and Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the authors reviewed over 200 surveys completed regarding both male and female patients of an average age of almost 10 years old. The conditions of the participants ranged from epilepsy to headaches to cerebral palsy.

The group found that around 60% of the parents interviewed had sought some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). The most widely used CAM methods were therapeutic massage and chiropractic adjustments. Multi-vitamins were the most used CAM products.

In the surveys evaluated, most participants reported that they found good health benefits with CAM and appreciated the minimal or completely non-existent side effects. They also pointed out that if you do choose to use CAM products, it is always best to disclose this to your primary-care provider .

In a prior study that involves the same two medical centers, specialists reviewed 939 questionnaires completed by parents who had kids with serious symptoms. Just as before, the parents were in agreement that CAM supplements and treatments like chiropractic care were used frequently and very helpful when working with kids who struggled with chronic conditions. The ones mentioned in the report were disorders relating to cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, or respiratory issues.

Both of these studies point out the many advantages of using complementary and alternative treatments like chiropractic care when helping a son or daughter manage their chronic health issues. It offers an alternative that does not create harmful side effects and focuses on total body wellness, making it optimal for children with chronic ailments.
