Aloha, Beaverton, and Salem Chiropractors Recommend Immediate Care After Whiplash Injuries

This is a common Case Scenario patients tell me when they have a “Whiplash Injury”

“You’re waiting at a stoplight, waiting for the light to turn green, either enjoying some nice tunes on the radio or IPOD, or talking to another person in the car, or just “spacing out”, waiting for the light to turn green, when all of a sudden you hear: The sound of screeching tires is followed by the harsh sound of metal hitting metal. Your car is suddenly being pushed forward! And You’re being rear-ended. In a split second, upon impact your body is pushed against your seat.” What happens is that your head, isolated by your neck, delays its reaction. Then, your body changes directions, moving forward to the limits of your seatbelt. Then your head is snapped backwards! You can’t stop it. In a flash, your life changes, you feel either shearing pain immediately, or there is a delay in pain for either a few hours, to a few days or weeks. A lot of the times, right after the accident, you’re too “pumped up” with adrenaline to feel anything. You’re in shock & even anger that some “BOZO” just crashed into you with their car.

Even a minor fender bender can produce a whiplash injury. It may take a day or two, or sometimes months for symptoms to appear. Now what? What do you do?!

You need to see call our office immediately! We are waiting to serve you at Aloha Chiropractic Clinic and Salem Chiropractic Clinic. Many times people will go to the hospital, or to the urgent care clinic. After waiting for a long time to see a doctor, they mostly get pain pills or Vicodin, or Anti-inflammatories, or muscle relaxers. They may not even see a doctor, but see a nurse and all they usually do is prescribe pain medication. Medication is sometimes okay for temporary relief. However, Long-term use of these drugs can have very harmful effects.

To get help with correcting the cause of the injury vs. just getting symptomatic relief via pain medication call our office immediately! You can see a doctor the same day at Aloha Chiropractor Clinic, and Salem Chiropractor Clinic. We have physical therapy, Chiropractic treatment, and massage to help heal the spine appropriately. Specific chiropractic spinal adjustments help restore proper spinal motion and position of individual spinal bones, and the physical therapy and massage work on the muscles, and other soft-tissue that surround the bones of the spine. Our goal is to not only help you get rid of the pain, but to fully rehabilitate and correct the spinal injury so that there is no re-injury of the spinal areas due to activities of daily living.

Dr. Tajapour and Dr. Davison state, “The longer you wait for the more chance there is in developing a chronic problem or degenerative joint disease, or arthritis and it can take longer for the spinal injury to recover. Getting prompt attention and taking care of whiplash and spinal injuries shortly, if not immediately after the accident is of vital importance”.
